The EU and Senegal signed an agreement on sustainable fishing partnership

Published: 26.07.2019

The European Union and Senegal have signed a partnership agreement on sustainable fisheries, which will allow EU vessels to catch tuna and hake in the waters of Senegal.

In return, the European Union will provide the Senegal financing in the amount of €1.7 million ($1.9 million), of which more than half will be aimed at promoting sustainable fisheries management, in particular efforts to combat illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing.

Shipowners must also pay about €1.35 million ($1.5 million) per year.
